After a week, the aforementioned records of my self-loathing returned, stemming from the inability to acquire any decent-looking food. That’s not to say it’s been completely out of the question. I’ve eaten at least one thing from the local farmer’s market, and a few days later at a local restaurant, which I felt guilty about, though not for reasons of righteousness. But all in all, the weeks have been barren of feasts.
This brings us back to the topic of why I don’t use my new, expensive fancy Kitchen Aid blender. Before buying the expensive cordless model, I actually used a cheap, wasteful model, and I was able to chop up a tomato in 30 seconds, which is something of a miracle. Truth be told, it was exhilarating, and the particular handle I had was great fun, but after a few minutes of using the blender, the dull reality of my lower limbs set in. Not to mention that the cheap blender was a pain in the ass to clean. So I bought a fancy new Kitchen Aid, and that’s more or less when my new life began.
These days, I don’t use it much. But I do use it. I will make some kind of smoothie every morning, and for that I will inevitably use it. I honestly hate using it, and don’t really see the point, so I just wait for it to finish up before getting a jug to the gym. And in the long run, my cleanse has been worth it. It’s given me the perspective to see that I can eat some good food occasionally, even if it’s nothing more than some mediocre breakfast burrito, which is what led to the juice cleanse. I would have eaten burgers and fries every day the past seven days, just for a change of pace.
